Bridge of Hope offers several support services:
Web Support - Bridge of Hope offers volumes of resources, information,
literature, and email support through our website. Through our contact us link,
you can email us for more information and support any time. Check back often
as we update our website to insure you have up-to-date information and support
for your journey.
Speaker's Bureau - Bridge of Hope can provide on-site testimony sharing and
educational presentations for pastors, churches, youth leaders, etc. Our goal is
to equip church leaders and members to understand and provide
compassionate, Christ-centered pastoral care for individuals wanting to leave
homosexuality. Speaker's Bureau representatives include those who have
experienced healing of their own sexual identity, behavior, and orientation. We
can also recommend other nationally known speakers.
Resource Library - We loan out books, tapes, videos, and DVDs that pertain to
homosexuality to Bridge of Hope participants. These resources are not always
available in Christian bookstores.
Pastoral Counseling - We do have a professional pastoral counseling who can
meet with you who specializes in Human Sexuality. She is currently in process of
obtaining a credential with the Exodus Professional Network. We also have
other resources of help located at our referrals link.
Support Groups - Our largest and most effective support that Bridge of Hope
extends to those who struggle and to their families, is that of our on-site
support groups. Below is our information on our support groups.
How do support groups help?
* Support groups are small gatherings of individuals who meet regularly for Christ-centered
discussion and education to impart hope for those transforming out of homosexuality.
* Our weekly meetings start with worship, teaching, and prayer in a large group setting.
Afterwards, we break out into smaller individual groups for men, women, and family/friends
to engage in confidential discussions (a group for spouses is pending).
* Relying on a support group alone will greatly diminish the success of your healing
journey. Strengthening your relationship with Jesus Christ, and building healthy relationships
with other believers is what healing is all about.
* Email us for the password to download a copy of our "Support Group Philosophy" and/or
"Small Group Guidelines" brochures in Adobe Reader format. Please specify which brochure(s)
you wand to download, briefly explain how you found out about us and how our ministry can be
of assistance to you.
As a safeguard, we require all participants to fill out an application which must accompany you on
your first visit (email us for the password to access the application). In addition, you must sign a
statement of agreement and confidentiality to participate in a small group.
In order to experience the safety and well being necessary for establishing trust within the
support group, the following seven (7) qualities are required:
1. Confidentiality – what is said at the ministry stays at the ministry
2. Responsibility – take personal responsibility for your healing journey.
3. Acceptance – show unconditional love, acceptance and grace
4. Respect – appreciate and value one another.
5. Honesty – Commit to rigorous honesty and principles of truth
6. Adaptability – be flexible and willing to take risks
7. Encouragement – build up and affirm one another
The ground rules below have been established to promote and maintain these qualities, and to
provide a framework in which all participants feel comfortable and at ease.
Participants are to do the following:
* Use first names only or pseudo names
* Show courtesy and respect to others
* Wear proper attire
* Be prompt
* Participate in discussions & exercises
Participants are to refrain from the following:
* Cross talking
* Interrupting out of turn
* Cross counseling or offering unsolicited advice
* Touching others in the group
* Giving details about sexual encounters or places visited
* Revealing names of people or places
* Asking personal questions of other group participants
* Using foul or vulgar language
* Belittling or criticizing others in the group
* Sexual involvement or emotional dependency with other group members
* Private meetings with group members outside of the support group.
Curriculum
Bridge of Hope uses the Taking Back Ground Discipleship Series written and published by Portland
Fellowship.
* It is Biblically based and understandable for all participants with practical life applications.
* It contains a variety of topics that help people better understand homosexuality (see table of

* It is a two volume series that is covered over a period of 2 years. One volume is covered
each year running from the beginning of Oct to the end of May.
